"Course of the Year" Awarded to Dallas Theological Seminary
June 30, 2008
Recently, Dallas Theological Seminary was awarded the "ACCESS 2007 Course of the Year Award," which is sponsored by Christianity Today International. This award was given in recognition of excellence in Christian distance education course development for our “Bible Study Methods and Hermeneutics” online course, which was taught by Dr. Mark Bailey.
In the summer of 2003, Dallas Theological Seminary launched their first online education class taught by distinguished professor J. Dwight Pentecost. This online class on the “Life of Christ” provided 20 students with the opportunity to learn from Dr. Pentecost’s lectures and interact with their online classmates. After successfully completing the requirements, students earned course credit toward their master’s degree program at Dallas Theological Seminary.
Since its inception, many have participated in Dallas Theological Seminary’s online education courses. The convenience of online classes has enabled many different individuals the opportunity to learn God’s Word, which they might not have previously had. The current online student population includes: soldiers in the Middle East, para-church workers, medical doctors, mothers at home, and those from one of DTS’s five extension campuses.
