Marriage and Family Ministry Cohort (NEW!)
Dallas Seminary is pleased to offer a Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.)
degree in Christian Education with an emphasis for Marriage and Family
Ministry.
This program is formatted as a modified cohort in which the same group
of students go through a select portion of the program together. This program utilizes research tools such as PREPARE/ENRICH and the Prevention and Relationship Enhancement Program (PREP).
The Marriage and Family Ministry emphasis is taught by an multi-discplinary team of academicians and ministry practitioners which
include Dr. Michael Lawson, Dr. John Trent, Prof. Kurt Bruner, Dr. Gary Barnes, Dr. Chip Dickens and Dr. Scott Barfoot. In addition, Dr.
and Mrs. Howard and Jeanne Hendricks will share during a session from
their years of ministry.
Between the first and second cohort residencies, the members of the
group will be required to attend L.E.A.D. (3 credit hours) together
with their spouses. L.E.A.D (DM510) is a sponsored by The Howard
Hendricks Center for Christian leadership.
This cohort emphasis will provide students with cutting edge programs,
practical ideas and ministry education strategies that can be
immediately useful to their ministry. Each student will be required to
write a dissertation related to marriage and family ministry topics
that will help them be more effective in their place of ministry.
Applicants must possess an accredited M.Div. or Th.M. degree or
equivalent. Prospective students with an accredited Masters of
Christian Education degree or Masters of Biblical Counseling, without
Greek and Hebrew, will be required to take a 3 hour modular computer
biblical language tools course.
Degree Breakdown
Required Cohort Classes (18 hours)
First Winter (6 hours) (Lawson, Trent, Bruner)
- Seminar 1 Surveys biblical and theological foundations, current
research and numerous cutting edge programs for marriage and family
ministries.
Second Winter (6 hours) (Barnes, Dickens, Barfoot)
- Seminar 2, week 1 provides research-based tools for marriage
and family educators such as Prepare-Enrich and Prevention and
Relationships Enhancement Program (P.R.E.P.); Week 2 offers the DM102
Applied Research Project Development Seminar.
Third Winter (6 hours) (Lawson, Trent, Bruner)
- Seminar 3 will evaluate taxonomies of values education,
parenting skills and student program designs
