Media and Communications at Dallas Seminary

“Our job as Christian artists is not simply to hold a mirror up to nature but to open a window into heaven.”

—Dr. Reg Grant, professor of Pastoral Ministries and coordinator of the Media Arts programs

Some liken the arts and media to a mirror that merely reflects the nature and characteristics of the society at large. But what is the impact of today’s media on our society? Think about how movies, radio, books, newspapers, magazines, and TV affect our culture’s values.

Media does more than reflect—it shapes. The media profession is a virtually untapped mission field, and God has gifted you for such a time as this. Dallas Seminary offers two degree programs that can help you realize your dreams of impacting countless lives for the kingdom of God through the relevant use of media.

M.A. in Media and Communications (M.A./MC)

This is a 68-hour program designed to prepare you for ministry as a worship leader, writer, or other media/communications specialist. A two-hour internship is required. This degree assumes that you have undergraduate or practical experience in media and/or the arts. The three major program emphases are writing, presentation, and worship. Up to 34 hours may be transferred into your M.A. in Media and Communication program. Email the Admissions Office for more details.

Media and Communication Track in the MASTER OF THEOLOGY (Th.M.)

You can also specialize in media and communication in the Seminary’s Th.M. degree. This 120-hour program is designed to develop competent Bible expositors who will serve as pastors or educators at a highly professional level. As a Th.M. student you will study every book of the Bible, gain proficiency in historical and systematic theology, and develop a working knowledge of Greek and Hebrew for proper exegesis. See the Th.M. section of this website for more information.
