DTS Distinctives
Diverse Student Body
DTS has students from over 70 denominations and 50 countries with ages ranging from 22 to 82. They are diverse according to gender, race, ethnicity, and future ministry goals, but they hold in common a desire to learn the truth and love their neighbor.
Walkable, Family-Friendly Campus
The main campus in Dallas is intimate, walkable, and friendly, with an extensive library and on-campus housing for families and singles. Conversations spring up at the café and on the large lawn where friends and families can play, read, and grow together.
Consistent, Rigorous Education
All seminaries teach the Scriptures, but at DTS every program covers all 66 books of the Bible (including Obadiah!). DTS students also take six theology classes, with an entire semester devoted to studying God as Trinity.
Spiritual Formation and Internships
Learning at DTS extends beyond the classroom and into the life and experiences of students. As they walk with each through Spiritual Formation groups, and with ministry mentors in the Internship program, students develop real-life skills.
Missions Emphasis
Since its beginning DTS has trained pastors for the local church (Andy Stanley, Randy Hahn, James Bond), missionaries going into all the world (Christy, Celestin, Richardson), and those bringing the gospel to the world through social justice initiatives (Tom Basile, Chico West). DTS also holds an annual World Evangelization Conference, an expression of our commitment to the missional life.
