Katherine Long
Admissions Counselor
I’m so glad that you’re here and would love to help you in any way that I can. Dallas Theological Seminary is an amazing place to be, and I am delighted that I have the privilege of working with students like you every day!
Not long ago, a pretty big change occurred in my life and God started me on an adventure. My husband was offered a promotion within his company, and after much prayer, we decided to leave our home in Minnesota and move to Dallas, Texas! I have to admit that I struggled. I had so many questions! How will we find a church? Where will we live? Will I find a job? Will we have any friends? So if you are feeling nervous, anxious, excited, scared, and overwhelmed all at the same time, I know how you feel!
God uses so many things in our lives to guide us. For some of you, your call to the ministry is clear and has been clear for a long time. For others, this may be a total life and career change and you feel a little blind-sided. Either way, you know that the Lord is calling you, that He doesn’t make mistakes, and that when you follow His will for your life, you are more fulfilled than you ever thought possible! God led me to DTS because I needed a job and it wasn’t long before I realized that He had led me here for so much more. I’m currently pursuing the Master of Arts in Media and Communications degree, and I’m loving every minute of it.
So, as you seek the Lord’s guidance about this decision, know that we are praying for you, and that we are here to answer any questions that you might have. It is our joy to serve you! Just let us know how we can help. God’s blessings and I’m sure I’ll be talking to you soon!

What is the best part about working in the DTS admissions office?
The wonderful people that I get to work with and students that I get to meet every day! I love that I’m blessed with the opportunity to serve students and their families.
What is your favorite piece of literature?
Is this a trick question? As a good seminary student, my answer better be “the Bible!” I also just read The Chronicles of Narnia and Lord of the Rings for the first time and loved them both.
What is your favorite quote?
“The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past…we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it. And so it is with you…we are in charge of our attitudes.”—Charles R. Swindoll

Who is your favorite Bible character and why?
David—because he was so passionate about the Lord, and desired so much to become more like Him. He also had some serious failings. It reminds me that God uses imperfect people to change the world and that He can use me too.
