How to Apply for Membership
Thank you for considering membership in the Association of Evangelical Ministers. To help ensure a strong membership, the application process is a thorough one. Here are steps you should follow:
- Review the “AEM Guidelines." This document gives an overview of AEM -- its purpose, criteria for admission and annual dues. It also includes the Statement of Faith and Code of Ethics.
- Complete the “Membership Application." Attach additional pages if you need more space. On page 4, give the names and contact info of the two references who will submit recommendations.
- Send “Reference Forms” and “Code of Ethics” to two references, either by emailing them the web links below or by printing and delivering hard copies to your references. Your references should return the completed forms directly to the DTS Alumni Office via fax (214-841-3719) or mail (Alumni Relations-AEM / Dallas Theological Seminary / 3909 Swiss Ave / Dallas TX 75204).
a. The “Pastoral Reference” should be completed by a pastor or someone who knows you on both personal and spiritual levels.
b. The “Personal Reference” should be completed by a friend, neighbor or co-worker.
- If you are married, your spouse should complete the “Spousal Support Statement." This statement may be returned to DTS either with your application or separately via fax or mail.
- Sign, date and mail your completed “Membership Application” to the DTS Alumni Office via fax (214-841-3719) or mail (Alumni Relations-AEM / Dallas Theological Seminary / 3909 Swiss Ave / Dallas TX 75204).
Also mail your fees: Include with your application two separate checks made out to AEM: a $10 application fee and the $50 yearly membership fee. (If you are a fulltime missionary serving outside the U.S., your annual fee is just $35.)
If for some reason the membership committee does not recommend acceptance, your membership fee will be refunded.
Once DTS receives all your materials, we will forward them to the membership committee. We will keep you posted on that process, but in the meantime please don’t hesitate to call or email if you have questions. Thank you for your interest in the AEM.
