Questions about AEM

Who Are We?

The AEM is a professional ministry association of Dallas Seminary alumni in vocational ministry who are committed to a moral/ethical code of conduct that unites us together for ministerial encouragement, support, and fellowship in order to enhance character and competence in ministry. The AEM facilitates peer contact, support and accountability among our members, stimulates spiritual growth, and provides resources for ministry. It enables the members of the body of Christ to encourage one another regularly through mutual dialogue and prayer.

Who May Belong?

The AEM is open to alumni of Dallas Theological Seminary who serve in vocational Christian ministry. The AEM encourages those who are in church, education, chaplaincy, parachurch, and/or missions ministries to apply.

How Does AEM Work?

By utilizing our talents and resources, we are a proactive organization working to encourage and support other like-minded ministers around the world. After review, the Association approves a candidate for membership, providing the credentials, distinction, and recognition of a ministry that reflects the highest standards. Members pay yearly dues and can apply for recertification every three years. Annual dues are only used to support Association ministries.

Why AEM?

Godly servant-leaders need to possess both character and competence (Ps. 78:72). Biblical, ethical, and moral standards of integrity are essential in order to encourage and unite like-minded believers. Together, high standards of character can be upheld while continuing to pursue greater competency in ministry. Our desire is to handle accurately the Word of truth, and to be holy as He is holy (2 Tim. 2:15 and 1 Pet. 1:16). The development of the AEM began several years ago as part of a vision cast for the Seminary by laypeople, pastors, and alumni to address the need for those in ministry to be connected to each other for mutual support, encouragement, and accountability. This was a particular need for those serving in churches and ministries without denominational affiliation. Thus, the AEM began accepting members in 2000.
