World Evangelization Conference 2008
Making the Most Out of WEC
Our effectiveness in ministry will be directly related to our ability to minister incarnationally. Whether we do ministry in Dallas or Delhi, New York or New Zealand, we must seek to understand where people are coming from and meet them where they are before we can lead them to Christ. How prepared are you to be incarnational in your ministry? Incarnating the Imago Dei is the theme for this year’s World Evangelization Conference where we will address the issue of incarnational ministry head-on. Just as the Son was sent by the Father and took on human flesh, so we too must go to the people whom we hope to reach with the gospel and become like them. This will always be a painful and difficult process, but the reward can be great. It is as we are being incarnational in ministry that we are able to accurately reflect the image of God to those who are lost and in need of Christ. Let us not succumb to the idea that ministry will simply come our way upon graduation from DTS. We need to go to the desperate, the hurting, and the spiritually impoverished people of this world, and meet them on their terms in an effort to lead them to our Savior.
During this World Evangelization Conference, my heart’s desire is that each of us would prayerfully consider how God would use us individually and as a student body to reach the nations of the world for Christ. More than that, I pray that we would all genuinely give the reigns of our life over to God – to go to whomever, however, and wherever He would lead us. May we be a community of believers, passionately on mission for the glory of God.
