2012 EATFE

Where and When

Biennial Consultation
January 18,21, 2012
Boston and South Hamilton, Massachusetts

Purpose of EATFE

EATFE is the evangelical caucus of the Association of Theological Field Education (ATFE). EATFE meets biannually for the purpose of professional development and collegial support. Members often remain in contact with each other for mutual encouragement, resourcing, and accountability. Professional papers are presented by members at the biannual conferences on topics relevant to theological field education. Facilitated discussions explore various issues related to the formation, development, and placement of students preparing for Christian vocational ministry. The meetings are designed for both those new to theological field education and those serving as a life career. The Evangelical Association of Theological Field Educators invites and encourages you to share the joy of partnership and friendship with faithful and gifted colleagues.

Location of 2012 EATFE Sessions

This year we are pleased to offer a wintry New England venue for the proceedings. We are heading to the Boston area where our hosts will be our colleagues from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. We will meet alternately at their main campus in South Hamilton, MA and the Center for Urban Ministerial Education (CUME) in the city. Features will include a seafood-in-the-rough dinner, followed by candlepin bowling (native to Massachusetts). Friday night we will enjoy dinner in Boston’s historic Italian North End.

Our hosts will be Katherine Horvath and Frank Tully of the South Hamilton and Boston-CUME campuses, respectively.

Call for Papers and Presentations

The value of our meetings is in large part a result of our willingness as EATFE members to prepare and present seminars and other presentations. Papers can be formal research into a facet of field education, reports of programs or methods that have worked for you, sharing of evaluation methods or forms, an idea you want to explore through a guided discussion panel, and so forth. For those of you on a tenure track, we want to help you deliver a paper that your administration will value. If you are interested in being a presenter at the meeting or if you have a suggestion, please contact Tara Hornbacker at hornbta@bethanyseminary.edu.
