Workshops
Around the Corner, Around the World
Cultivating a Heart for Multicultural Ministry
Acts 1:8 “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be my witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth."
Today “the remotest part of the earth” has come to us, and with the use of media, the Gospel can go forth globally without us. This workshop provides wisdom and practical tools for serving in multicultural ministry. We all must become better equipped to reach a diverse audience – whether that audience lives around the corner or around the world.

Leading Women Who Wound
Strategies to Differentiate between Proverb’s Simple, Foolish, and Evil Women
Conflict is inevitable and wise leaders prepare in advance. Loving difficult, even mean, women, is impossible in our own strength but nothing is impossible with God. One valuable skill is the ability to discern what kind of woman you’re dealing with, thereby enabling you to love appropriately--sometimes with tender love, sometimes with tough love. This interactive and practical workshop will teach you how to love and lead women according to Solomon's categories in Proverbs.
Dr. Sue Edwards loves to see women of all ages and stages thrive in community and bond around God’s Word. As former pastor to Women at Irving Bible Church, she worked with women from all walks of life and various age groups. Sue's passion is to see modern and postmodern men and women connect and learn from one another.
Bridging the Generation Gap
Reaching Young Women in the Church Today
In the church today both older and younger generations of women desire to connect with one another, yet most are having a difficult time figuring out how to do this effectively. In this workshop we will seek to better understand these two generations in order to bridge the gap. We will also answer the question, "How can women's ministries better reach women in their 20's and 30's?" and present examples of how churches are successfully doing this today.

Can You Drink the Cup?
Learning, Loving, and Living My Life
Jesus asked his followers if they could drink the cup of suffering. When unexpected circumstances arise, we are forced to answer his question and explore “Who am I?” and “Who is God?” Reflection is essential if we are to be spiritually formed. The cup as a metaphor for life calls us to a journey with God.

Engaging the Power of Story
Impacting Others Through Sharing Your Life Story
Storytelling is the oldest tool of influence in human history. Jesus, the master storyteller, wrote our story even before we were born. For women of influence, the impact of sharing our life story and listening to others is powerful. We will briefly overview the process of writing and telling our story, share examples from ministry illustrating how life stories contribute to spiritual formation and community, and see a context for sharing the Gospel.

Reservoir Ministry
Regaining a Biblical Perspective on Personal Soul Care
Contrary to the popular admonition that life is not all about you, ministry life is more about you than you think. Reservoir Ministry will explore how today’s leader can avoid ministry burnout by nurturing her personal love relationship with God as the number one priority of her life, living as a reservoir rather than a channel, and truly loving her neighbor as herself.
Debbie Swindoll was born into a pastor’s family, grew up in the church, and married the son of a pastor. After her three children became school age, she moved into ministry in her local church. While studying, reflecting and teaching, Debbie began to suspect that knowing something about God was doing little to change her life or the lives of those around her. In her quest to discover how she could actually enjoy true transformation in this life, she was led on a journey into a real relationship with God and incidentally acquired a degree in Spiritual Formation and Soul Care from Talbot School of Theology.
Engaging with Truth
Teaching So They’ll Listen
God renews his people through his Word. As teachers we must emphasize and clarify the text while also illustrating and applying it to our particular listeners. This workshop will help you present Scripture in a way that is audience-conscious and committed to God’s truth.
