Video Conferencing Courses

Please upgrade your flash player.

Video conferencing courses offer extension students the opportunity to take courses and professors that are less likely to be offered in person at their extension site. Video conferencing courses also broaden the geographical makeup of a course's students, enriching their interactions with one another. Students from any site will be able to interact with the professor in real time, and have the same experience as taking the class at the Dallas campus with the professor in the classroom.

FAQ

What is it?

Video conferencing connects multiple sites together so that students in several locations can attend the same class at the same time. Live video sent over the internet allows students in other locations to interact with the professor as if he were there. Right now, Dallas, Houston, Austin, and Atlanta are equipped to support video conferencing.

Why are we offering courses through video conferencing?

Video conferencing allows students from several extension sites to join Dallas students in class. This exposes Dallas students to students at the extension sites and gives a wider variety of courses for extension students to take.

Will every class be offered?

Every class has the potential of being offered, but we are limited to the amount of courses that can be offered each semester. Normally we will choose courses that fit within the degree programs offered for each extension site.

What classes are available now?

For the Fall 2009 semester, we are offering BE415, WM335, and CE415 at the Houston campus.

We are offering WM525 in Austin.

Will I ever get to see my professor face to face?

Yes. In every course, the professor will broadcast at least one class from each site. However, the professor will predominantly broadcast his class from his or her resident site.

How will I turn in assignments?

All assignments will be submitted electronically through my.dts.edu. This online system enables you to upload your assignments, download your graded papers, download class notes, and interact with your classmates.

How will I get notes and handouts?

All handouts and supplemental class information will be posted on my.dts.edu
