DTS-JETS Joint DMin
Beginning in 2014, Dallas Theological Seminary and Jordan Evangelical Theological Seminary will partner to offer a Doctor of Ministry degree to students already serving in the Arabic-speaking world.
The program was created in response to an increasing need for higher-level biblical and theological training in the Middle East. Many JETS graduates and missionaries serving in the Arab World are not able to complete a PhD/ThD program. Combining practical ministry with advanced seminary training, the joint DMin enables students to complete their doctorate without leaving their country.
The degree was approved by the DTS Board in May 2013 and is under the leadership of Dr. Scott Barfoot, Director of Doctor of Ministry Program, and Dr. Imad Shehadeh, President and Founder of Jordan Evangelical Theological Seminary.
The joint DMin is designed to be completed in four years through a combination of an applied research project and courses in Dallas, Texas, and Amman, Jordan. Each course is six months and includes an in-residency intensive class at either DTS or JETS.
- 27 credit hours of classes
- 3 credit hour applied research project
- Six two-week trips to JETS
- One two- or three- week trip to DTS
Tuition & Fees
The cost for the whole four-year program is $13,000 for each student. This includes tuition, books and one trip to the US, but it does not include lodging, student travel to Jordan from other Arab countries, or travel for graduation in Dallas.
Accepted students can apply for a scholarship from JETS. If selected, they can receive up to $6,500 of the total cost.
The joint DMin program is officially offered and accredited through DTS. Therefore, after initial approval from JETS, the applicant will be required to submit all application and registration information online directly to DTS. The program is open to applicants who have the following:
- Master of Divinity or Master of Theology (or recognized equivalent)
- Four courses of biblical Greek and two courses of biblical Hebrew
- High Competency in English evidenced by TOEFL grades (all instruction will be in English)
- Doctor of Ministry (DMin)
