Teach Truth Love Well - It's in our DNA since 1924

DTS Distinctives

Teach Truth. Love Well. These four words have echoed through the halls of DTS since 1924. It’s this history of balanced ministry prep that makes DTS’s educational approach a lasting resource for diverse contexts. See what our grads are doing.

Teach Truth

Teaching truth means that what you’ll get at DTS you’ll be able to give to the church and the world when you leave. Howard Hendricks says, “You cannot give what to do not possess.” That’s why every degree program takes students through all 66 books of the Bible and the six major division of theology. We want you to know and believe the truth of Christianity, so you can “give them something to believe” (Lewis Sperry Chafer).

Love Well

Loving others well is central in sharing Christ with the world (John 13:35). What good is knowledge without love? DTS creates an environment where ministry to God’s people doesn’t get pushed aside by theological jargon. Instead, "The goal of our instruction is love" (1 Tim 1:5). DTS places a premium not only on our students developing ministry skills, but also a heart that God’s Spirit can use in demonstrating His love.
