Current Topic: The Da Vinci Code
The Da Vinci Code, written by Dan Brown, is a fictional thriller that has captured the coveted number-one sales ranking at Amazon.com, camped out for 40 weeks on the New York Times Best-Seller List, and inspired a one-hour ABC News special. Along the way, it has sparked debates about Western culture and Christian history. While the ABC News feature focused on Brown's fascination with an alleged marriage between Jesus and Mary Magdalene, The Da Vinci Code contains many other false claims about Christianity's historic origins and theological development. The following dialog, hosted by Dr. Mark Bailey, took place with Drs. Jeff Bingham and Darrell Bock, both of whom participated in the ABC special. Listen in to their discussion about the text, the opportunities that it has created, and the problematic theology proposed within its pages.
