Lightning Bolt
December 7, 2009
To get an inkling of God’s power, consider that a single lightning bolt can give off 3,750 million kilowatts of electrical energy. About 75% of that is given off as heat, which raises the temperature of the surrounding air to about 27,000 degrees Fahrenheit, which causes rapid air expansion, which causes thunder that can be heard up to 18 miles away. “Your thunderous voice was heard in the wind; the lightning bolts lit up the world; the earth trembled and shook.” (Ps. 77:18) How amazing to think that the voice that shook the world was reduced to a baby’s cry in a cattle trough.
