A Portrait of Love
We hold fast to the truth of God’s word. But sometimes our desire to defend the truth can push away the very ones who need the truth most. Edwin Markham captures our plight well in his little poem, Outwitted: “He drew a circle that shut me out – Heretic, rebel, a thing to flout. But Love and I had the wit to win: We drew a circle that took him in!” Luke 6:35: “But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, because he is kind to ungrateful and evil people.” (Luke 6:35) How can you show your enemy you love him today?
