A Simple Delight
Have you thanked the Lord for your food today? Consider the diet in Jesus’ day: a light breakfast consisted of flat bread, olives, and goat or sheep cheese and would be carried to work and eaten around midday. Dinners consisted of vegetable stew, bread, fruit, eggs and/or cheese. And fish. Locusts were a delicacy and were supposed to taste like shrimp, though Jews wouldn’t have known that since shrimp were unclean. “So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do everything for the glory of God.” (1Cor. 10:31) Thank the Lord today for the simple delight of healthy food.
