John Bunyan was a man with responsibilities. He had a pregnant wife, and several children, one of whom was blind. And yet when local magistrates sentenced him to prison unless he promised he would not preach, he refused. He said he would remain in prison till the moss grew on his eyelids rather than fail to do what God had commanded him. “If anyone comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother, and wife and children, and brothers and sisters, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple.” (Luke 14:26) Follow Jesus. Obey him. Love him more than anyone else in the world.
