George Whitefield, the fiery 18th century preacher was determined to keep preaching despite virulent opposition. While one man tried to whip him, a trumpeter and drummer tried to drown him out while he was preaching at Moorfields, London, in 1742. But he kept preaching for 3 hours, and 350 people were awakened. “Be conscientious about how you live and what you teach. Persevere in this, because by doing so you will save both yourself and those who listen to you.” (1 Timothy 4:16) No opposition can shut you up, if God wants you to speak.
