When I was a teenager, I played football for George West High School in south Texas. Two-a-days started in August. Back in the sixties there was this crazy coaching idea that withholding water from dehydrated players made them tough. All it ever made me was thirsty. I’ve often thought back to those hot August afternoons and how I longed for water. “As a deer longs for streams of water, so I long for you, O God!” (Psa. 42:1) C. S. Lewis said the secret to never thirsting is ever thirsting. Pray today that God will create a thirst in your soul for him. Then ask Him to fill you up.
