For Your Own Good
Some parents are afraid to discipline their children because they believe the child will no longer like them if they do. Just the opposite is true. How can you like someone for whom you have no respect? If we fail do discipline our children, they will not respect us, and they will grow up selfishly to despise all authority. How can you truly rest, knowing your child disrespects you? “Discipline your child, and he will give you rest; he will give pleasure to you.” (Proverbs 29:17) Discipline is never pleasant, but it is necessary if we want the respect and love of our children.
