In Sickness and In Health
I’ve known church leaders who believe that if Christians aren’t suffering physically for the sake of the gospel, they are out of the will of God. These folks are convinced that good health and peace in this world is a sign of spiritual lethargy. They might be surprised at John’s prayer for his good friend Gaius. “Dear friend, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, just as it is well with your soul.” (3 John 2) God gives us grace when we have poor health, but he delights in blessing us with good health as well. Either way, He deserves our praise.
