Motivate by Modeling

How do you get your kids to obey you? Now, how do you get them to do what you want them to do? That’s a different question, because it requires that the child act according to a set of core values that you have passed on. Of all the ways I’ve tried to motivate my kids, the least effective is anger. Perhaps because when I’m angry, I care least about modeling Christ for them. “Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but raise them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.” (Eph. 6:4) Today, spend 5 minutes thinking of a new way to help motivate your kids to godly behavior.
