Jesus had plenty of company in the wonder working department of his day. Romans and Jews alike were witness to dozens of miracle workers, each of whom claimed divine inspiration. But several things set Jesus apart: He didn’t use magical formulas or incantations, he refused pay, and he often discussed faith with those who sought his help. “For we are not like so many others, hucksters who peddle the word of God for profit, but we are speaking in Christ before God as persons of sincerity, as persons sent from God.” (2 Cor. 2:17) Ask God to purify your motives in serving Him today.
