Stay in the Race

Today in the Netherlands, thousands of people will race across one hundred twenty-four miles of frozen canals. It’s called the “Eleven-Cities Race”, the Elfstedentocht, and takes nearly seven hours to complete – if you’re fast. But it isn’t so much your ability to sprint, as it is to endure. “Therefore, …we must get rid of every weight and the sin that clings so closely, and run with endurance the race set out for us, keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith. (Heb. 12:1b, 2a) Stay in the race. Only God knows how close you may be to the finish line.
