The Decline of Reading

The word is out. Dana Gioia, chairman of the NEA reports that reading among adults is in serious decline. Over the past two decades, the number of 18-24 year olds engaged in literary reading has declined by 28 percent. How can we know the Bible if we don’t read it and memorize it? “This law scroll must not leave your lips! You must memorize it day and night so you can carefully obey all that is written in it. Then you will prosper and be successful.” (Joshua 1:8) The Bible will do you no good sitting on your shelf. Read it regularly. Read it today.
