The Real Life
In ancient Greece, women figured their age from the date of their marriage rather than from the day they were born. Why? Because the wedding marked the beginning of a woman’s real life. Now such a sexist idea would never fly today, but wouldn’t it be wonderful, gentlemen, if our wives felt as though their lives had really begun the day they married us? “Nevertheless, each one of you must also love his own wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.” (Eph. 5:33) What can you do for your wife today that will encourage her to bless the day she married you?
