Dallas Theological Seminary is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Bill Hendricks (MA[BS], 1984) as acting (interim) executive director for Christian Leadership at the Hendricks Center .

Bill Hendricks is the son of Howard G. Hendricks, the founder of the Hendricks Center, and is also president of The Giftedness Center, a Dallas-based consulting firm specializing in organizational effectiveness and individual career guidance. He is the author or coauthor of twenty-two published books and has written for numerous publications, including his own blog at BillHendricks.net. He holds an undergraduate degree in English from Harvard University, a Master of Science in Mass Communications from Boston University, and a Master of Arts in Biblical Studies from Dallas Theological Seminary. He is a board member for Pine Cove Christian Camps and sits on the steering committee for The Theology of Work Project. Bill is married to Lynn, and is also the father of three grown daughters.

Mark Bailey, president of DTS, states, "I couldn’t be more pleased that Bill is stepping in to help us make this transition in leadership. While Prof. Hendricks left his indelible marks all over us through his teaching, Bill brings a wealth of experience and research in strategy, recruiting, organization, and evaluation of giftedness and fit for leaders. Helping ministry leaders find the unique ways God has designed them to function has been at the heart of his ministry for well over 25 years." Bill will take the lead in accomplishing the following goals:

  • Developing a strategic plan for the Hendricks Center for Christian Leadership and Cultural Engagement
  • Assisting in the search for the new permanent executive director for the Hendricks Center
  • Recruiting, organizing, and giving initial leadership for the Hendricks Center's advisory board
  • Providing advice on leadership development in Christian ministries

Dr. Darrell Bock, executive director for Cultural Engagement at the Hendricks Center and host of The Table Podcast, says, "It is a pleasure to welcome Bill to our team. His experience in the marketplace and his role as a consultant to business leaders means he knows what leadership requires. The Hendricks Center is about leadership and engagement activated through the eyes of faith. Theology works in all of life whether you are at work or in the church. He brings that perspective with a winsomeness that shows the way. I am thrilled to be working alongside him at the Center."

Mr. Hendricks says of his new role:

"I feel so honored to be able to serve leaders through DTS, and especially to do so in the stream of my dad's legacy at the Hendricks Center. I view the Center as an unbelievable asset—not so much as a memorial casting a long shadow, but more as a strategic platform from which DTS can address the challenges and opportunities confronting Christian leaders going forward. Over the next few months, I look forward to engaging as many members of the DTS constituency as I can to help us understand what our leaders most need, and what DTS's unique contributions can and should be in addressing those concerns. Call me. Email me. Write me. Let's talk. Because Prof has gone home, but the rest of us are still at work!"
