Certificate Program Advising
Certificate of Graduate Studies and
Certificate of Biblical and Theological Studies
The Advising Center wants to help you make informed decisions as you progress toward graduation. CGS/CBTS students often ask two questions:
- How do I select electives?
What brought you to seminary?
Some wish to study the Bible so they use their electives to complete the introductory BE courses.
Some wish to receive theological training so they use their electives to complete the introductory ST courses.
Others wish to develop skills used in ministry (teaching, leadership, etc…) so they use their electives to take courses in these areas.
The key question: What knowledge and skills do you wish to acquire through your DTS training?
- I am curious about completing a master’s degree. Should I complete the certificate before changing to a master’s degree?
Some students wish to further develop their skills and knowledge through a DTS master’s degree. These programs are designed to prepare students for a particular vocation or ministry context. See the various degrees offered at DTS.
As soon as you start to think, “God might want me to complete a degree” or “It would be nice to complete a degree” arrange for an appointment with an Academic Advisor. We can partner with you as you seek to discern the best way forward.
Changing from one program or degree to another is called Reclassification. Fill out the Reclassification Form to the right and arrange for a Reclassification meeting with an Academic Advisor.
Answers to the above questions greatly depend on you. This page provides basic information. Academic Advisors are happy to come alongside you as you journey with the Lord. Schedule an advising appointment today!
