Seeing Psalm 107: Storm

by Aaron Switzer

Description
This is one in a series of four images (stock photographs manipulated in Photoshop) representing Psalm 107. In each one, the passage is considered through the eyes of someone in need of rescue (the reader). The Psalm depicts God as redeemer in a variety of situations, each one demonstrating that He is worthy of praise. Here we see verses 23-30. The clouds suggest a brewing storm, and three women are caught up in the midst of it. The building storm represents life's anxiety and the anticipation of disaster. In the midst of this, however, one woman has remembered something of God's truth. She might be imagining God's provision for Jonah or maybe Jesus and His disciples. God's sovereignty is in view, and she thinks that God might have an answer for her too.
