Graduation Applications for Spring 2010 graduates and Summer 2010 graduates, who desire to participate in the Spring 2010 commencement ceremony are available online under Forms and Information, in CampusNet. If you are planning to graduate in Spring or Summer 2010 and participate in Spring 2010 Commencement, your completed application is due December 1, 2009. After December 1, 2009, graduation dates for those students with incomplete applications will be moved to a later session.
NOTE: that your graduation application is not complete until any/all church verification letters have been received.

Church Planting Boot Camp will provide the student with an introduction to the major start-up issues the planter faces in the first year of a new church. It covers thirty practical skill modules in the areas of personal preparation, strategic planning, core group development, and public launching. You may register for this 3-hour course as PM905 HO. It will meet from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday, January 4-8, at the College of Biblical Studies, 7000 Regency Square in Houston. To register for this course, request a Special Topics form from the Registrar’s Office or from Dr. Karen Giesen.

This spring on four weekends in Houston, Dr. Joye Baker and Mrs. Barbara Neumann will teach CE 435: Developing and Leading Women’s Ministry, “a study of the principles and strategies in understanding, developing, administering, and directing women’s ministries in local churches and other Christian organizations.” If you intend to work with women, you will benefit by insights from this course. It was last taught in Houston in 2007. It will likely not be offered again for about three more years.

The course called CE105 Teaching Process and Audio Visual Presentations, offered on four weekends in Houston this spring, is a combination of two courses - CE103 and CE104 - required for students in the MACE and in the academic ministries track of the ThM. It is highly recommended as an elective in the other programs for anyone who plans to teach or use audio visuals such a PowerPoint. If you take CE105, it will replace both CE103 and CE104 on your degree audit. Even if the course is full, please add yourself to the Wait List.

If you are receiving a scholarship or gift from an organization sending funds directly to DTS, you MUST give a copy of the award letter or other correspondence (for example, email) to the Bursar before the payment deadline for the semester for which the scholarship is to be applied. You are required to pay by the semester’s payment deadline any remaining balance after subtracting out the outside scholarship/gift. A study trip to the Holy Land is the ideal supplement to your classroom education. Such a trip enables you to visualize the places and understand references where the key events in the Old Testament, the Gospels, and the Book of Acts took place! Each spring, DTS sponsors a student trip to Israel and Jordan. The dates of the 2010 trip are May 10–30.Leaders will be Dr. John Hilber (DTS Old Testament Studies Department.) and Professor Greg Behle (IBEX in Israel). The price of $4,495 includes round trip airfare from Dallas (possibly from Houston), housing, and two meals a day. It also includes tuition for three credit hours of independent study in Bible Exposition. Non-students are also welcome.

As an Extension Student you are able to have access to faculty and guest speakers from all over the world. All Extension Students, whether full or part time who are enrolled in a degree or certificate program are required to listen to 10 chapels from the current semester by downloading them from http://www.dts.edu/media/podcasts/.
Check out the subscribe link to have all chapels automatically downloaded to your iTunes. Chapels that are recorded and made available can usually be accessed 24 hours after the live presentation. Chapel reporting will be done twice during the semester by logging into the campus.dts.edu website.

To prepare for a potential flu season emergency, the seminary has established the following policy:
1) For updates on the campus-wide status of flu conditions at DTS, please visit http://www.dts.edu/flu.
2) If flu conditions require cancellation of a class session or other changes for the course, an email will be sent to all class members.
3) In the event of a major campus emergency at DTS, course requirements, deadlines, and grading percentages are subject to changes that may be necessitated by a revised semester calendar or other circumstances beyond the professor’s control.
In order to provide you with helpful and up-to-date information about the H1N1 flu, a webpage, http://www.dts.edu/flu is now available. It is important for to monitor that page regularly in order to know what DTS is doing and what it is recommending with respect to the flu. There you will find also a reporting form that will enable the seminary to track what is occurring with the disease and thereby make informed decisions.
