Entering students, it is highly recommended that you plan on attending our orientation at the Austin campus on Saturday, September 6 from 9:00am to 2:00pm. Attending this orientation, you will learn about: registration, library procedures, advanced placement, policies and other resources available to you as a DTS student. In addition, you will have the opportunity to take the required MMPI (Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory) test. If you fail to take this test, you will be responsible for making an appointment with a psychologist and have him/her administer it for you, which could cost you over $200. Because this event will run through lunch, we will be providing it for you. Please RSVP Michael Balbier at mbalbier@dts.edu or at 800-DTS-WORD x3781 by Friday, August 15, 2008.

General Info
1. We encourage you to follow the Course Rotation we publish on each Extension Site home page. We will be offering the classes listed on the rotation and highly recommend you take a “live” class when it’s available instead of taking the same course in the online format.
2. Since you can take online courses at any time, it would be wise to take courses such as BE103, which is not available online, when it’s offered. Otherwise, you’ll have to wait four years before it comes back around in the rotation.
3. Some of the courses you need have pre- or co-requisites. For example, BE 104 requires that you have either already taken BE101 and BE103 OR that you are taking them concurrently. Plan carefully.

Each year the DTS Faculty Awards in Teaching Excellence honor two faculty members - one tenured and one non-tenured. These favorite professors are selected by the graduating class as having "contributed most to their ministry preparation through teaching excellence." The 2008 Awards went to Dr. Jeffrey Bingham and Dr. Larry Waters. Both men will teach in Houston in Fall 08. Dr. Waters will teach BE 103 Old Testament History and Poetry on four weekends. Dr. Bingham will teach HT101 The Church to the Modern Era on five different Saturdays. BE103 is required for all students. HT101 is required for ThM and elective for MABS. If your schedule permits, seriously consider taking these courses from these sought-after teachers.
