International Leadership Scholarship Program

Reach your neighbors
Reach your country
Reach the world
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and the ends of the earth (Acts 1:8). |
When the Lord Jesus Christ commissioned His disciples, He gave them a vision for effectively spreading the gospel. As a school founded on the unchanging Word of God, Dallas Seminary acts upon this directive. Our graduates have spread out to all fifty of the United States and nearly one hundred countries around the globe. These alumni reach their neighbors, their countries, and the world. One way we fulfill Christ’s commission is through the International Leaders Scholarship Program, which was developed in response to an interest on the part of Dallas Seminary donors. These visionary friends saw a tremendous need for scholarships to benefit exceptional international students, many of whom had a great deal of ministry experience before coming to Seminary, yet struggled for years to complete their studies and support their families with very few resources. These students, upon graduation, would return home to fill key leadership roles in ministry worldwide. Little by little the donors’ concern and desire to help grew into the International Leaders Scholarship Program (ILSP).
The vision of ILSP
- Identify outstanding international candidates with proven leadership potential.
- Equip them for a lifetime of growth in ministry effectiveness.
- Return them to positions of leadership in their countries.
In order to realize this vision, ILSP will provide full and partial scholarships to candidates who meet the following criteria:
- Mature, proven leadership in ministry
- Clear future direction for ministry
- Nomination or recommendation from a leader or organization in the home country who anticipates the candidate’s return
- Clear financial need
Realizing the Vision
Since the program’s inception in 1988, thirty-three recipients have returned to ministries in more than twenty different countries, including Chad, New Zealand, Korea, Haiti, India, Russia, Nigeria, Guatemala, Brazil, and Mozambique.
Among the graduates are seminary founders, presidents and deans, leaders of denominations, pastors, church planters, professors, radio broadcasters, and evangelists.
Sharing the Vision
During the past twenty years, friends of Dallas Seminary who share this vision for reaching the world have provided the funds necessary to award these scholarships. The future of the ILSP rests in the hearts and hands of Dallas Seminary donors—in hearts that pray and hands that give.
