San Antonio Housing
Wayside Chapel, the hosting church of our San Antonio extension, has graciously offered limited free housing to DTS students who travel from out of town to take a San Antonio hybrid course. These accommodations include one of the houses the church typically utilizes for missionary lodging throughout the year.
How to Reserve
- Register for a San Antonio extension course. See the Course Schedule for a current list of course offerings.
- After you have successfully registered for a San Antonio extension course complete the “Request a Bed” form found below.
- After you have successfully submitted the form a distance education representative will follow-up with you.
Keep in Mind
All housing requests are on a first-come-first-served basis. Filling out the “Request a Bed” form does NOT guarantee you a bed. After you complete the form, a distance education representative will follow-up to confirm whether or not there is any space available for your requested dates. If all of the beds have been reserved for your requested dates, there may be an opportunity for you to reserve a cot. Due to space limitations, housing is available to only DTS students (excluding spouses, children, and pets).
Although the distance education office works closely with the hosting church to ensure housing is made available for traveling students for course dates, and that housing reservations are scheduled in a timely manner, there may be instances when the housing is not available, or confirmed housing reservations are cancelled due to circumstantial demands of missionaries who may need the housing. In these rare instances, the distance education office will communicate the situation to all students who have requested housing.

For which days am I able to reserve housing?
Please see the below chart for the required check-in and check-out dates based on the corresponding class meeting schedule. Keep in mind that the majority of San Antonio extension courses are the in the typical block hybrid format (Thursday evening 6-9pm; Friday & Saturday 8am-5pm). The below chart may not reflect every course scheduling scenario, but serves as an example for required check-in and check-out days.
|Class Meeting Day||Thursday evening through Saturday afternoon|
(typical hybrid format)
|Friday morning through Saturday afternoon||Monday morning through Wednesday afternoon||Monday morning through Saturday afternoon|
|Required Check-in||Thursday morning/afternoon||Thursday afternoon/evening||Sunday afternoon/evening||Sunday afternoon/evening|
|Required Check-out||Saturday afternoon||Saturday afternoon||Wednesday afternoon||Saturday afternoon|
What does the check-in and check-out process entail?
Upon confirmation of your bed reservation, you will receive a detailed email regarding the check-in and check-out process.
Where should I park?
Limited parking is available in the driveways of the houses, and additional parking is available on the Wayside Campus, which is a 1-minute walk from the houses. On-street parking is prohibited overnight per city ordinance.
Can you provide a description of the house?
It is two-stories with 4 bedrooms and 2 ½ bathrooms. Bedrooms include: Master/Queen (1st floor); Bedroom/Queen (2nd floor); Bedroom/2 Twins (2nd floor); Bedroom/2 Twins (2nd floor).
Will I have my own bedroom?
Whether you have been confirmed with a bed or a cot, you are not guaranteed a private bedroom. All rooms are on a first-come-self-served basis. In other words, if you have a bed confirmation, once you arrive to the house you may choose any available room or bed. Some rooms have more than one bed. So, depending on how many beds are in the room and how many students reserve a bed will determine whether or not you are able to have a room to yourself. Cots would be set up throughout the living and/or dining areas of the house.
Are others (e.g., spouse, children, pets) able to stay with me?
Due to space limitations, housing is limited to DTS students only (excluding spouses, children, and pets).
What does the housing include? Do I need to bring anything?
The house is fully furnished including pillows, bed sheets, and towels. Feel free to bring your own bedding or towels as you see fit. You may also use the fully functional kitchen during your stay, which includes major appliances, plates, utensils, and cookware. No food is available in the pantry or refrigerator. Food may be provided to the whole class and you may have the opportunity to keep and refrigerate/reheat some of the leftovers in the kitchen.
What are the expectations of housecleaning before my departure?
We ask that you do your best to leave the house as you found it, including cleaning any kitchen items you may have used. All used linens (towels, washcloths, bed sheets) should be neatly placed in the bathroom.
How many students are able to stay in the house at once?
We do not anticipate there being more than 10 students staying in one house at a time (including beds and cots). At the appropriate time, we will communicate to all students who have confirmed bed/cot requests the exact number of students staying in the house.
How far is the housing from the classroom?
The housing is a very short (1-minute) walk to the classroom.
Am I guaranteed a bed after I submit a “Request a Bed” form?
No. A distance education representative will follow-up with your request to inform you whether or not space is available.
Am I guaranteed a bed after I receive confirmation from a distance education representative?
Mostly. There may be rare instances when the housing is not available, or confirmed housing reservations are cancelled due to circumstantial demands of missionaries who may need the housing. In these rare instances, the distance education office will communicate the situation to all students who have requested housing.
How will I know if I get a cot or a bed?
Please let us know on the “Request a Bed” form whether or not you are willing to reserve a cot in the event that all beds have been claimed.
