Serving with DTS since: Fall 2017
Hi y’all! Thanks for checking out our Team Admissions page. All of us here would love to help you as you consider seminary, education at DTS, and degree programs – we know that these decisions can be frustrating and overwhelming, and we want to make your decision-process as smooth as possible! I’d love to chat with you and try to guide you as you consider seminary, DTS, and how God might be leading you as you seek to serve Him.
I’m currently immersed in Bible, theology, language, and ministry courses as I pursue the ThM here at DTS, and I’m loving it! I’m the third generation in my family to study at DTS, and it’s such a blessing to study at the school and with the professors that my parents and grandfather loved so much. DTS has equipped and served my family as they’ve sought to serve the Lord in various ways, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to be here, training for my own path of service to God. DTS has been the right fit for my family for generations, and I hope that it is for you, too!
I made the decision to move far away from my family after college because I know that DTS is an excellent seminary and was the right choice for me with my calling, gifting, and passions. It’s been everything I imagined, and more, and I’m so grateful to be here, learning under humble, godly men and women and growing in my relationship with the Lord and love for His Word as I study. As you consider God’s leading and how He has specifically equipped and shaped you, I urge you to consider DTS as where He might me leading you!
What are your hobbies or outside interests?
To relax, I love reading, watching something on Netflix, baking, trying out a new recipe, singing along to some showtunes or worship music, or crocheting (it’s like knitting, but with only one “stick” instead of two). I’m a huge musical theatre fan, and a Christmas freak!
What made you decide to go to DTS?
Since my grandpa and both of my parents went to DTS, I joke that I didn’t have any choice in the matter – but I absolutely wanted to come here! I loved that the ThM program equipped me with study in all 66 books of the Bible, a solid grounding in theology, and extensive study in both Greek and Hebrew. Wherever the Lord leads me next, I know that DTS will have equipped me well to both know God and His Word and to share that knowledge effectively with others in ministry.
What do you do on your day off?
(Well, as a full time student…) mainly homework! I also budget down time (usually enjoying one of my hobbies) and time with friends, and I’m involved in the worship team and the youth group at my church.
What are your favorite foods?
Definitely classic comfort foods, like pizza and mac ‘n cheese! I especially love Italian and Mexican (Tex-Mex!) food as well.
What is your favorite television show of all time?
If I need a good laugh, probably The Office or Parks and Recreation. Otherwise, I’ve been following Once Upon a Time and Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D for years!
What is the best part about working in the DTS admissions office?
Everyone on the team was so welcoming and encouraging when I started! They’re such great people to work with. I also love working in Admissions because I love DTS, and love telling others about it.
What is your favorite quote?
Sam in Lord of the Rings: “I can’t carry it for you, Mr. Frodo, but I can carry you!”
What is your favorite piece of literature?
I’m definitely a fan of classical literature, like works by Jane Austen and Charlotte Bronte. Pride and Prejudice, To Kill a Mockingbird, and Jane Eyre are some of my favorites.
What is your favorite musical artist/group/genre of music?
I love showtunes, worship music, and Christmas music! Also, Handel’s Messiah is one of my all-time favorite things to listen to (especially around Christmas-time).
Who is the person you admire most and why?
Probably my parents! They’ve always been such strong role models and spiritual mentors in my life. I have learned so much from the humility, grace, and confidence that they have displayed as they’ve faced the trials and hardships of ministry.
Who is your favorite Bible character and why?
(Other than Jesus?) Mary (Jesus’ mother) has always been one of my favorites, because of her willingness to serve the Lord, even though she didn’t fully understand and was afraid. Elijah, as well, is one of my favorites, because he has an excellent grasp of sarcasm (just read the story of Mt. Carmel!).
If you could have superhero powers, what would they be?
Probably the ability to physically heal myself and others or the ability to talk to animals!
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live?
Somewhere that gets a good bit of snow in the winter, and has beautiful scenery (mountains are a plus)! So somewhere like Alaska, the Rockies, or the Midwest in America or Ireland/Scotland or Switzerland overseas.
