On Friday, June 19, Dallas County passed an ordinance that requires all commercial entities in Dallas to enforce a mask policy anytime six feet of separation between guests or co-workers cannot be maintained (supplemental order).

DTS recognizes the necessity to require everyone on DTS Dallas property to wear face masks as one of several measures to ensure the health and safety of all who come to our campus. Effective immediately, DTS faculty, staff, students, and visitors are required to wear masks, both indoor and outdoor, anytime six feet of separation cannot be maintained. If you have do not have a face mask, visit Campus Police in the Horner Administration Building or the circulation desk of Turpin Library and one will be supplied.

Employees working at their individual workspace who are able to maintain 6’ of separation are allowed to remove their masks. Any employee in a public space, hallway, elevator, stairwell, etc. is required to wear a mask. (A supply of masks will be maintained at the library circulation desk for those who need one.) Employees who are outside or in a large public space AND are able to maintain a social distance of 6’ foot from anyone else are able to remove their masks. Employees should keep a mask in their possession when away from their private workspace until a notice is sent that masks are no longer required by DTS.

Students coming to any of the DTS properties are required to have a mask. Anytime a student enters a DTS owned building or is within 6’ of another person, they are required to put their mask on. Students who are outside or in a large public space AND who are able to maintain their social distance of 6’ may remove their mask. If others encroach on the 6’ area of social distance, the student is required to put his or her mask on. Students should keep a mask in their possession until a notice is sent that masks are no longer required by DTS.

DTS Housing Residents over the age of 2 are required to wear a mask anytime they leave their private residence. Any resident in a hallway, elevator, stairwell, etc. is required to wear a mask. Once a resident is outside or in a large public space AND is able to maintain their social distance of 6’, they are able to remove their masks. For as long as masks are required by DTS in public areas, the residents should keep a masks in their possession when they are outside of their private residence. Residents should keep a mask in their possession until a notice is sent that masks are no longer required by DTS.
