Both the State of Texas and Dallas County require that masks be worn at all commercial entities and businesses when social distance is not maintained.

DTS requires everyone on DTS property to wear face masks as one of several measures to ensure the health and safety of all who come to our campus locations. Additionally we recommend that students, staff, faculty, and visitors wear masks that meet or exceed the most recent CDC guidelines on masks. We also strongly recommend that washable masks be laundered frequently.

Therefore, DTS faculty, staff, students, and visitors are required to wear masks both indoors and outdoors when on DTS property according to the following protocols:

Classroom Protocol – Masks are to be worn in the classroom, at all times, by both students and faculty. Faculty may remove masks in the classroom when lecturing behind plexiglass shields or partitions.

Office and Meeting Room Protocol – Masks are to be worn indoors anytime 6 feet of physical separation cannot be maintained between people. For individual offices and cubicles, masks may be removed when 6 feet of physical separation is possible. For meeting rooms masks can only be removed when the attendees present can ensure 6 feet of physical separation between themselves. For any meeting or gathering above 10 people, regardless of physical distancing, masks must remain on.

Common/Reception Area Protocol – Masks are to be worn indoors anytime 6 feet of physical separation cannot be maintained between people. Often times break rooms do not allow for social distancing so masks must remain on in the breakrooms except when eating or drinking. For reception areas, masks may be removed when both 6 feet of physical separation is maintained and when the occupancy is under 10 people. This includes common areas within Swiss Tower and Washington Hall (including laundery rooms).

Library/Study Room Protocol – Masks are to be worn indoors anytime 6 feet of physical separation cannot be maintained between people. For larger study areas and the library rooms, masks may be removed when both 6 feet of physical separation is maintained and when the occupancy is under 10 people.

Outdoor Area Protocol – Masks are required whenever 6 feet of physical separation cannot be maintained.
