Campus Police
Dallas Theological Seminary Police seeks to create an environment at each campus and extension site in which people are safe from physical harm and property is secure, in a manner that is consistent with state and federal laws and seminary regulations; and maintain an emergency notification system that can assist our extension sites at their request.
Dallas Bicycle Regulations
Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to ride their bicycles to campus, but must be sure to adhere to all school policies. All bicycles on campus are required to display a DTS decal so that the owners can be identified. Decals are available at no charge from the Campus Police. Bicycles on campus are also required to be parked in bicycle racks, and are not to be secured to sign posts, street signs, trees, light poles or fences. There are currently three bicycle racks on campus, all of them located along Apple St. in the rear of parking lot E2. Bicycles found in repeated violation of these policies may have their cables cut, be impounded and possibly donated to charity at a later time. Bicycles that do display a DTS decal may be impounded as well if they are deemed to be abandoned. The owners of bicycles may also be ticketed by the Campus Police if they can be identified. The Campus Police will always make a good faith effort to contact the owners of bicycles before they are impounded.
Dallas Parking Regulations
Welcome to the DTS Campus Police webpage. We hope this site will answer most of your parking questions. It is our desire that campus parking will always be conducted properly and in order. We regret that circumstances make it necessary for the Campus Police to issue parking tickets, but most tickets can be avoided if these general guidelines are followed:
1. All vehicles on our campus must display a valid DTS parking decal on the front windshield, or a temporary parking permit on the dashboard at all times. Both are issued free of charge by the Campus Police. Students, faculty and staff may register their vehicles online at certain times in January, August and September. At all other times the Campus Police must be contacted directly. If someone drives a vehicle to campus that they don’t normally drive, even if it is just for one day, he/she is responsible for getting a temporary parking permit from the Campus Police. The Campus Police may be contacted at the police kiosk next to parking lot C1, or by calling 214-887-5590.
Parking decals are good for one year, and expire each year on September 1. At that time students, faculty and staff must register their vehicles and receive new decals. The decals stay in place by static, and must be displayed in the lower corner of the passenger side of the front windshield.
2. All vehicles on our campus must park in valid parking spaces, and in appropriate parking lots. Men should not park in parking lots reserved for women. Students should not park in parking lots reserved for Faculty and Staff. Commuters should not park in parking lots reserved for campus residents, and campus residents should park only in lots reserved for them. There are signs at the entrance of each parking lot that indicate who may park in that particular lot.
Parking decals are color coded, and the Campus Police can determine if a vehicle belongs in a particular parking lot by the color of the decal. If a male student, for example, has a “male commuter” decal on his vehicle, but his wife drives the vehicle to campus one day and parks in a parking lot reserved for women, she is responsible for contacting the Campus Police and advising them of the situation. Students are also responsible for their campus guests. If a guest receives a parking ticket, the ticket may be charged to the student’s account.
All parking tickets are $25.00 and may be paid at the DTS cashier’s window in the Business Office. Parking Tickets may also be appealed within seven days of issue. Appeal forms may be obtained at the police kiosk, and all forms are forwarded to an appeal committee that may uphold the ticket, void the ticket or reduce the ticket to a warning.
With the exception of Lots C1, S1 and W1, there is open parking after 4:30pm on weekdays, and on weekends. People who park in a lot that they are not normally allowed to park in must be sure to move their vehicles by 8:00am on weekdays.
Let’s work together to reduce the number of tickets issued on our campus. If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. We are here to serve you.
