Housing & Relocation

Sublease Check-In Procedure

1. Arrive on the scheduled date and time.

The Apartment Manager has been informed of the date and approximate time that you will be arriving to check-in. If you find yourself running early or late and will not arrive at that time, please contact the Apartment Manager at 214-887-5212 to inform him of the time that he can expect you. Please do not arrive before 9 a.m. or after 8 p.m. If arriving on Sunday, check-in times are 2-4 p.m. or 6-8 p.m. only.

2. Arrive to campus and park vehicle.

Washington Hall is located at 1107 St. Joseph on the corner of Swiss Avenue and St. Joseph Street. Upon arrival, please park your vehicle in the visitor’s lot where the DTS Campus Police kiosk is located or on the street if there is an available space. Please do not follow another vehicle into the Washington Hall parking lot; you will be allowed to park your vehicle in the parking lot after you have checked in with the Apartment Manager.

3. Contact the Apartment Manager and check-in.

Once you have parked your vehicle, you may walk to Washington Hall and proceed through the front doors (follow posted instructions to be buzzed into the building). If you are arriving during the week between the hours of 8 am - 4:30 pm, please see the receptionist in the Housing Office and the Apartment Manager will be contacted. If you are arriving after the Housing Office has closed for the day or over the weekend, the courtesy staff will allow you to use the phone to contact the Apartment Manager if you do not have a cell phone.

The Apartment Manager will check you into the arranged apartment and will give you one apartment key/iButton and one building access device. (Note that there is a $50 charge for lost building access devices and a $20 charge for lost apartment keys/iButtons.) Once you have been checked in, you will be allowed to park your vehicle in the Washington Hall parking lot. You will need to go to the Campus Police kiosk and register your vehicle and make sure to let them know that you’ll be staying in Washington Hall. They will give you a resident decal which will need to be affixed to your windshield as directed by Campus Police. You do not need a parking hangtag, even if Campus Police says you do, but tickets will be distributed to vehicles parked in the Washington Hall parking lot without a valid decal!

4. Come to the Housing Office to fill out the necessary paperwork and pay for your stay.

The Housing Office is located on the first floor of Washington Hall and is open Monday - Friday from 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. If you check-in over the weekend, please come to the Housing Office the Monday after you arrive when you have a break between classes. You will fill out a few forms and make your payment (sorry, no credit cards) and the process only takes a few minutes.
