Transferring to DTS from another School within the US
A student must begin classes at the new school within 5 months of transferring out of the previous school, or within 5 months of the completion date on his/her I-20, whichever is earlier. For students on OPT, a transfer can be done only if the student begins studying at the new school within 5 months of transferring out of the school that recommended OPT, or the date that OPT authorization ends, whichever is earlier. Students, who are ineligible for transfer within the US because of the 5-month rule, should travel abroad and re-enter the US with a new I-20 from the new school.
On-campus work ceases at the old school on the last day of class for the degree you finished at that school. On-campus employment may begin at the new school 30 days prior to the orientation date at the new school.
Once a transfer is done, the student is required to attend the next school session that transpires.
