THANKFUL. GRATEFUL. HOPEFUL.

DTS Legacy Center

Dallas Theological Seminary: the school that almost wasn’t—except for grace.

Our founder, Lewis Sperry Chafer, nearly abandoned his plans for a new school, but the Lord used a trusted friend to encourage him at breakfast that same day. Grace.

Struggling financially, the fledgling school almost closed its doors in 1929, but a United States Treasury Certificate in the exact amount needed arrived with a half hour to spare. Grace.

Again and again, God has come through at just the moment of need, enabling DTS to equip students all over the world to be servant-leaders who proclaim the Word. As Chancellor Mark Bailey says, “Stories of answered prayer and God’s provision have continued across the decades.” To be encouraged by these stories of God’s grace, visit our new Legacy Center, opening this October on the Dallas campus of DTS. As you explore the exhibits, you’ll discover and celebrate with us the legacy of God’s sustaining grace at DTS and the continuing vision for reaching the world with God’s truth and the love of Christ.

Your journey begins with a recreation of the Apostle Paul in the Mamertine prison encouraging Timothy, his beloved son in the faith, to “preach the Word.” The story of DTS then unfolds through displays that feature a pictorial timeline, talking portraits, and an immersive video experience in our new theater. The song of our legacy that began with a single note has now grown into a fully orchestrated symphony of God’s grace.
