Part-Time Media Assistant


Hours: 15 hours per week


The Media Assistant is responsible for helping students in the computer labs and assisting students with various media needs, such as audio and video editing and recording, scanning, and creating presentations. This position is also responsible for equipment rental, tracking media usage, answering the telephone, selling supplies, staffing the help desk, teaching training sessions, completing daily lab maintenance, and completing other Media Center tasks as needed.


The successful applicant will be a DTS student with familiarity in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and iMovie. Must have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to communicate clearly.  Must also have the desire and ability to learn how to use a variety of software and equipment and have excellent teaching and tutoring skills. Photography, scanning, video, and graphic art experience is desired.  Familiarity with DTS Turabian style, Logos, Photoshop, GarageBand, and Final Cut Pro is also helpful.

A two-year commitment is requested. At this time, applicants who are either related or engaged to be married to any current DTS employee cannot be considered for this position.   • Assist students in the computer labs using both Mac and PC platforms
  • Gain a working knowledge of Microsoft Word (especially working with Turabian formatting and the DTS Turabian template), PowerPoint, Excel, Logos, GarageBand, and iMovie
