Dallas Theological Seminary has officially begun the presidential search process to find the successor to current president, Dr. Mark Bailey, who announced his retirement which will be effective June 30, 2020. The Presidential Search Committee has been established by the Board of Incorporate Members and is chaired by board member David Stevens. The search committee, with the approval of the Board of Trustees, has selected one of the nation’s leading executive recruiting firms, The Dingman Company, to give professional assistance in the search process for DTS’s sixth president.

The search for DTS’s sixth president will be led by Mr. Bruce Dingman and Dr. David Gyerston. Mr. Dingman, a proven leader in executive recruitment, has conducted seventeen presidential searches for evangelical seminaries, colleges, and universities. Dr. Gyertson, who has served as president of Asbury University, Taylor University, and Regent University, has often teamed with Mr. Dingman for executive searches in Christian higher education.

Anticipated Search Timeline
Fall 2018 – Search consultants meet with board and officers.
Late Fall 2018 – Search consultants conduct stakeholder listening sessions on campus.
Winter 2019 – Presidential Leadership Profile describing the ideal candidate and summarizing the priorities for the next president is posted. Open solicitation of applicants commences.
Spring 2019 – Applications accepted and reviewed.
Summer 2019 – Search committee conducts preliminary interviews and selects finalists to move forward by late summer.
Fall 2019 – Final candidate interview rounds.
Late Fall 2019 – DTS Board elects president and makes public announcement.
Spring/Summer 2020 – Seminary prepares for presidential transition.
July 2020 – New president takes office.
