As a child in Chihuahua, Mexico, Maria Pacheco (MA/CE, 2006) played in dirt streets with other children as vendors bustled about after Mass selling sticks of watermelon, cucumber, and mango slices with chili and lime. More than thirty years later she has found herself working in Dallas’s Vickery Meadow neighborhood, a Latino community much like the one of her youth.
