Advising Center

Entering Students

Welcome! We’re so glad that you’ll be a part of the DTS family. The Advising Center exists to help students make theologically informed decisions in light of current realities and future ministry possibilities. Below, we’ve compiled a collection of resources you’ll need in order to be successful throughout your time at DTS. Don’t hesitate to contact us if you have questions or if there’s anything we can do to serve you!

Your Admissions Counselor will serve as your guide as you transition to life as a student at DTS. After you’ve officially started your degree, Academic Advisors will help you navigate your time here at DTS. If you’re a distance student, Academic Advisors want to connect with you early in your academic career to help you plan for the successful completion of your degree.

Course registration occurs each October (for Winter/Spring) and March (for Summer/Fall) via Campus Net. The Advising Center has compiled several resources designed to assist you:

While all of our Academic Advisors are equipped to serve all of our students, a few groups will meet with specific Advisors. International students have an advisor who is equipped to help in light of their special status, and students at our DC and Houston locations have specific Advisors on location at their campuses. Feel free to contact us if you have questions about your degree requirements, or if you simply don’t know where else to go!

Personal and professional counseling services are available upon request from our Department of Student Services.

Start with the end in mind. Academic Advisors recommend seeking a church home when you arrive that will allow you to pursue an internship in the future. Find leadership under whom you can serve, and who will be able to pour into you as you progress through your degree.

Mental and emotional health are integral to a successful time of growth as you study at DTS. It’s important to find time to rest, relax, and have fun with friends and family. Try to schedule a time each week that you’ll devote to relaxation and entertainment. You won’t regret it.

Healthy relationships within the community of faith are integral to healthy spiritual life. No matter who you are, setting time aside in order to invest in relationships with others is essential for walking with the Lord.

Students with financial need may qualify for DTS scholarship assistance if they meet certain criteria. Scholarship applications are completed twice each year for domestic students in September (for Spring) and February (for Fall). The scholarship application can be accessed online.

There are also several other payment options available to fund your seminary education:
