Joel Reemtsma

Assistant Professor of Pastoral Ministries

Born and raised in Alaska, Dr. Reemtsma has always loved getting out into the wilderness, wherever it can be found. Growing up in a Christian household, Dr. Reemtsma developed an early enthusiasm for the Bible, which eventually led him to complete his PhD in Old Testament with a specialization in wisdom literature. His research interests include the narrative structure, literary features, and theology of the book of Job, with a special focus on the interpretation and preaching of the book. Dr. Reemtsma loves sports, particularly soccer, basketball, and football, and he currently coaches jr. high football and varsity soccer in Dallas. After completing his ThM, Dr. Reemtsma had the privilege of pastoring under his father at his home church in Alaska, and he continues to preach and teach there during the summer. He also participates in a variety of ministries around the Dallas area during the academic year. He finds great joy in his role shaping the vision and character of future ministry leaders by teaching courses in the Pastoral Ministries department.
