Satisfactory Academic Progress

Students are required to make satisfactory progress toward their degrees in order to remain eligible for VA Educational Benefits. Students must maintain a 2.0 GPA without excessive course drops.

Students must complete a minimum number of credit hours each academic year to be considered making satisfactory academic progress. A students who does not meet the credit hour requirement by the end of each academic year will be placed on Academic Probation and may lose eligibility to receive VA Educational Benefits. Reminder: One academic year includes the Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters:

  • Students in the ThM must complete a minimum of 15 hours per academic year.
  • Students in the MACE, MACL, MAIS, MAMW, MABT, MACS, MACE, MACO, and MAAE must complete a minimum of 10 hours per academic year.
  • Students in the MAC must complete a minimum of 13 hours per academic year.
  • Students in the MACP and MAJS must complete a minimum of 12 hours per academic year.
  • Students in the MBTS must complete a minimum of 6 hours per academic year.
  • Students in the STM must complete a minimum of 6 hours per academic year.
  • Students in the doctoral programs must complete a minimum of 6 hours per academic year.
