THANKFUL. GRATEFUL. HOPEFUL.

A MESSAGE FROM OUR PRESIDENT

In 1924, increasingly rationalistic tendencies characterized many higher education institutions and seminaries. Such schools welcomed theological perspectives that devalued the truth of God’s Word. They redefined essential doctrines of the gospel, leading to the distortion of historic Christian orthodoxy. This trend greatly disturbed Lewis Sperry Chafer, a traveling evangelist. The Lord was at work in Chafer’s life, leading him to establish a school that would herald “Preach the Word,” an educational platform that affirmed the Bible’s centrality and authority as the theological foundation for pastors and teachers serving the church. That school came to be known as Dallas Theological Seminary. Its focus was to give students biblically grounded theological training, equipping them to communicate God’s message in the context of the twentieth century and beyond. One hundred years later, we celebrate that founding mission, which continues strong through the faculty, staff, students, alumni, and supporters of DTS. It’s a community of believers who lead the way in teaching truth and loving well.

DTS Celebrates 100 Years of Teaching Truth and Loving Well

Since 1924, DTS has developed leaders who are biblically rooted in their theology and relationally sound in their engagement with others. We want our students, faculty, and staff to be shaped by their love for God and equipped to teach truth, that we may share Christ’s love with the people we serve. We invite you to learn about our history, join us for inspiring events, listen to the voices of current and past DTS students and faculty, and read our latest news.
