Description of Program

The 100 Global Leaders ThM Scholarship program will be awarded to 100 entering ThM students who have demonstrated excellent scholastic achievement, committed Christian service, and ministry potential in the local church as determined by the DTS Admissions Committee and the Global Ministries Division. Scholarship recipients will spend the first three years studying online in their home country. 

Eligibility Requirements

  • Meet the admissions requirements of the Master of Theology (ThM) program.
  • Have an accredited undergraduate degree with a GPA of 2.5 or greater.
  • Demonstrate English proficiency with a TOEFL score of (90). A TOEFL score of 90 or an IELTS score of 6.5
  • Have a ministry sponsor who will encourage, support, and mentor the student throughout the program. (Must be a ministry leader who knows you well and can meet with you once a month. Preferably DTS graduate or partner.)
  • Be willing study online for 3 years, and be able to live in the United States for the final 2 years of the degree program.
  • Commitment to return to home country after graduation.
  • Have a computer and internet connection capable of video conferencing with US-based classrooms.
  • Cannot be a US Permanent Resident or US Citizen

Benefits

  • Students will receive a full-tuition scholarship, leaving only per-term fees.
  • Students will receive rent coverage for their time in the United States.
  • Students will join a Peer Coaching group where they will be assigned a current international ThM student who will mentor them through the program.

Expectations

  • Students will complete the Master of Theology (ThM) in five years according to a cohort-based curriculum and schedule.
  • Students will meet with their home-country mentor once a month (in-person for the first three years, then online for the last two years).
  • Students will maintain a GPA of 3.0, remain in good standing with the Seminary, exhibit strong Christian character, and demonstrate spiritual maturity through service to others.
  • Students are responsible for meeting the remaining costs of the program not covered by the scholarship, whether by their own funds or by support-raising. For those planning to come with a spouse or children, there may be additional costs to consider, as well.

  • Applicants will ask their mentor to complete a sponsor application.
  • The International Student Development department will contact the student for an interview.
